Located in Brazos Valley, Texas, BVCASA offers a range of programs focused on recovery, education, and community support. The organization is well-regarded for its commitment to maintaining high standards of care and adherence to state and federal regulations, ensuring that clients receive effective and compassionate treatment within a supportive environment. BVCASA's Residential Treatment Program is a core component of its service offerings, providing structured and supervised living arrangements along with therapeutic interventions to help clients achieve long-term recovery.
The role of the Cook at BVCASA’s Residential Treatment Program is essential in supporting the day-to-day operations of the kitchen and cafeteria, where nutritious and safely prepared meals are critical to the health and wellbeing of the clients. This position involves preparing meals in accordance with dietary guidelines and safety standards, while also overseeing kitchen activities to ensure compliance with Brazos County Health Department, Texas Department of State Health Services, and Texas Department of Criminal Justice regulations. The Cook works closely with the Kitchen Supervisor and other staff to create a positive environment that supports the recovery process and adheres to all contractual and ethical obligations.
The Cook is responsible not only for meal preparation but also for monitoring the sign-in/sign-out procedures, maintaining confidentiality, and communicating any issues related to client behavior or emergencies to the appropriate supervisory personnel. Additionally, the Cook must consistently model healthy lifestyle choices and maintain professionalism within the team and in interactions with clients. This full-time role requires dedication, attention to detail, and the ability to work within a structured program that prioritizes client safety and program integrity.
Employment at BVCASA comes with the opportunity to be part of a mission-driven organization that values teamwork, respect, and professional growth. The ideal candidate for the Cook position will have previous experience in food service, be certified as a food handler or manager, and demonstrate cultural sensitivity and the ability to implement policies with authority. Weekend and holiday work is essential to meet the needs of the residential program.
Overall, this position plays a vital role in the successful delivery of services at BVCASA’s Residential Treatment Program, contributing directly to the health and recovery of its residents by ensuring high-quality food service and adherence to safety and regulatory standards. Candidates who aspire to work in a meaningful environment with a focus on substance abuse recovery and community health will find this role both challenging and rewarding.
