As a Cook at St. Joseph Health, you will play a vital role in supporting the health and well-being of patients, staff, and visitors by preparing nutritious, safe, and appetizing meals tailored to meet various dietary and therapeutic needs. Working in a dynamic, healthcare-oriented foodservice environment, you will be responsible for producing meals that comply with stringent state and federal food safety regulations. Your role involves precise recipe execution, maintenance of high hygiene standards, and consistent quality control to ensure that every dish served meets the organization’s rigorous standards.
Your daily duties will include operating various kitchen equipment such as slicers, mixers, ovens, fryers, steamers, stove tops, and grills while ensuring adherence to menu specifications and therapeutic diet modifications, especially accounting for food allergies. You will monitor and maintain proper food temperatures during cooking, holding, and storage to prevent contamination and preserve nutritional quality. Your role also encompasses sanitation responsibilities, including cleaning and washing kitchen and serving areas, ensuring a clean, safe, and hygienic environment at all times.

Job Duties
- Prepares and serves food within guidelines of menu and dietary requirements, using required kitchen utensils and equipment such as slicers, mixers, ovens, fryers, steamers, stove tops, and grills, etc.
- modifies preparations to account for food allergies
- follows healthcare foodservice industry standards, regulations, guidelines and procedures including monitoring and maintaining food temperatures during cooking, holding, and storage processes
- avoids cross-contamination of foods and adheres to personal hygiene requirements
- maintains labeling and storage of food, equipment, and machinery
- performs washing and cleaning duties to ensure sanitation and cleanliness in cooking and serving areas
