The role of Cook at Sunrise Senior Living is integral to the community, combining culinary skills with a heartfelt commitment to senior care. In this position, the Cook is responsible for preparing high-quality meals that not only meet nutritional and dietary requirements but also enhance the residents' dining experience through enjoyable and delicious food. The Cook works with standardized recipes and menus to ensure consistency and excellence in every meal served. This role involves maintaining a kitchen environment that is clean, safe, and organized, adhering strictly to food safety, sanitation, and OSHA guidelines. Beyond meal preparation, the Cook plays an important role in recording production quantities and temperatures to uphold health standards. Additional responsibilities include stocking, rotating, dating, and properly storing food to comply with safety regulations, as well as supporting dishwashing and dining services when needed. The Cook may also assume leadership duties in food production during the absence of the Dining Services Coordinator, ensuring seamless kitchen operations. Job Requirements
- ability to stand for extended periods
- capability to lift and carry food items and equipment
- willingness to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays
- adherence to all food safety and OSHA regulations
- basic math and record-keeping skills
- capability to work independently and in a team setting
Job Qualifications
- experience in a cook or line cook role preferred
- knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards
- ability to follow recipes and dietary requirements accurately
- strong organizational and time management skills
- good communication and teamwork abilities
- high school diploma or equivalent preferred
- prior experience in senior living or healthcare dining services is beneficial
Job Duties
- prepare and serve meals according to standardized recipes and menus
- ensure food quality, taste, and presentation meet Sunrise standards
- follow dietary modifications and special meal requirements
- record production quantities and food safety temperatures
- stock, rotate, date, and store food per safety regulations
- maintain clean kitchen, storage, and equipment areas
- complete cleaning logs and equipment maintenance reports
- follow all food safety, sanitation, and OSHA guidelines
- support dishwashing and dining service as needed
- lead food production in the absence of the Dining Services Coordinator
