We are currently seeking a skilled Line Cook to join our dynamic kitchen team. The Line Cook plays a crucial role in the preparation and presentation of a variety of dishes listed on our menu, specifically those that are grilled, fried, broiled, or prepared in the pantry. This position requires meticulous attention to detail to ensure that all plates served are not only cooked to the exact specifications of the customers but also aesthetically appealing. The ideal candidate for this role will have a strong culinary background, the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment, and a cooperative spirit to support the kitchen team.

The Line Cook will be responsible for collaborating closely with Chefs to review assignments and anticipated business levels to be well-prepared for service. They will oversee opening duties, which include setting up their workstation with the necessary tools and supplies, inspecting cleanliness and equipment condition, and ensuring all requisitions are properly processed. This role demands excellent organizational skills to coordinate prep items from various areas and readiness to transport supplies to designated stations. Additionally, the Line Cook will perform prep work on menu items before and during meal services and assist the Master Cook and other line staff as needed.

Maintaining cleanliness, sanitation, and organization of work areas is paramount, including disinfecting cutting boards, worktables, and breakdown of the workstation during closing duties. Effective communication with management, chefs, and service staff is essential to promptly address any issues or special requests from guests or team members. The physical demands of the role include standing and walking for extended periods, bending, stooping, lifting, and working in environments with varying noise and heat levels.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Prior cooking experience preferred
  • Ability to stand and walk for 6 to 8 hour shifts
  • Ability to reach, bend, stoop and wipe
  • Ability to lift and carry supplies and equipment
  • Ability to work in varying heat and noise environments

Job Qualifications

  • Knowledge of food preparation and cooking techniques
  • Prior experience as a line cook or similar role preferred
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced kitchen environment
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills

Job Duties

  • Meet with Chefs to review restaurant assignments, anticipated business levels, changes and other information pertinent to the job performance regarding cooking
  • Complete opening duties such as setting up work station with required tools, equipment and supplies
  • Inspect cleanliness and working condition of all tools, equipment and supplies
  • Check production schedule and pars
  • Establish priority items for the day
  • Inform the Sous Chef of any supplies that need to be requisitioned
  • Ensure all requisitions are processed properly and placed in designated area
  • Organize all prep items needed from different areas to ensure readiness for service
  • Transport supplies from storeroom and stock in designated areas
  • Start prep work on items needed for the particular menu of the day
  • Continue prep work during/after meal period for next meal service
  • Assist Master Cook/line staff as needed in execution of service
  • Monitor and maintain cleanliness, sanitation and organization of assigned work areas
  • Disinfect and sanitize cutting boards and worktables
  • Breakdown workstation and complete closing duties as assigned
  • Work as a team, assisting guests and employees needs
  • Communicate effectively with management, chefs and service staff to address issues or requests
