This position as a Cook at Womack Army Medical Center involves performing a variety of cooking and food service support duties that are essential to facilitating efficient food preparation within the medical treatment facility. The role supports the medical environment by providing nutritious, well-prepared meals that cater to the dietary requirements of patients, staff, and visitors. Operating in a setting that runs seven days a week, the position includes rotating shifts from early morning to mid-afternoon and late morning to early evening, ensuring continuous food service coverage. The incumbent is responsible for following strict food safety and sanitation procedures, utilizing multiple heating sources for cooking, and preparing meals ranging from regular diets to special dietary modifications. Duties encompass cooking moderately difficult foods, managing large or individual meal portions, assisting with salad and breakfast food preparation, and maintaining cleanliness and function of food service equipment. This job requires physical stamina, as it involves moderate to heavy lifting and standing for prolonged periods, and adherence to safety standards, including the wearing of protective shoes and obtaining a food handler's certification. This is a permanent, full-time federal position with a pay scale of WG 5, offering an hourly wage range from $21.31 to $24.87. Job Requirements
