Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Previous cooking experience in a senior living healthcare or restaurant setting preferred
  • Knowledge of food safety standards and regulations
  • Ability to follow recipes and meal plans
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills
  • Compassion for and a desire to work with the elderly

Job Duties

  • Prepare and cook meals according to menu plans ensuring food is nutritious appetizing and prepared according to dietary requirements and resident preferences
  • Ensure meals are served in a timely manner maintaining high standards of quality portion control and presentation
  • Maintain a clean organized and sanitary kitchen environment by following food safety and sanitation procedures
  • Ensure proper storage and handling of food supplies
  • Work closely with the Dietary Manager and kitchen staff to ensure smooth kitchen operations and quality service
  • Assist in training new kitchen staff as needed
  • Assist with inventory management and help track food supplies and report shortages or order needs to the Dietary Manager
  • Respond to special dietary requests and accommodate residents' food preferences ensuring satisfaction with meals served
  • Adhere to health and safety regulations including safe food handling and proper sanitation practices
