The company is currently seeking a skilled Cook to join their team, offering an hourly wage of $21.98. This full-time position requires fluency in both English and Spanish, highlighting the organization’s commitment to serving a diverse community effectively. The Cook plays a vital role in maintaining sanitary and safe conditions within the kitchen and food service areas, ensuring compliance with all local, state, and federal health regulations. This role not only involves food preparation but also the responsibility of operating kitchen equipment safely and reporting any malfunctions promptly.

The Cook will be tasked with preparing meals according to approved menus and recipes, emphasizing accuracy in weighing and measuring ingredients to produce consistent, quality food products. Safety protocols, including emergency evacuation procedures, must be adhered to, reflecting Compass Connections’ priority on the welfare and protection of both staff and service populations. Working flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, the Cook must demonstrate professionalism by maintaining confidentiality and following the company dress code and ethical guidelines.

This position also demands a proactive approach to maintaining kitchen cleanliness, identifying and reporting potential hazards, and contributing to a smooth operational flow through regular movement and handling of food and equipment. The ideal candidate will have at least six months of related experience or training, hold certifications in first aid, CPR, and emergency behavior intervention, and exhibit strong interpersonal skills suited to a multidisciplinary team environment.

Job Requirements

  • pass a pre-employment drug screen and random drug screens throughout employment

Job Qualifications

  • high school diploma or equivalent
  • six months of related experience and/or training

Job Duties

  • maintain sanitary conditions in work and food service areas that meet or exceed all licensing and policy requirements
  • operate kitchen equipment and report any malfunctioning equipment immediately
  • produce a standard food product by weighing and measuring ingredients accurately
  • maintain knowledge of materials and equipment used in food preparation and cooking
  • implement Compass Connections safety protocols including evacuating with children and other staff in case of an emergency
  • work evenings, weekends, and holidays as necessary or requested by the position supervisor
  • maintain confidentiality in all areas of the service population and program operations
