With this guiding principle, the organization actively maintains a diverse workforce aligned with its core values and cultural respect. It offers temporary on-demand part-time positions that provide flexibility for employees to contribute meaningfully while accommodating various schedules. The position in question is a key role within the kitchen operations, centered on food preparation and maintaining high standards of food safety and hygiene. Employees in this role are essential contributors to the overall success of food service delivery, interfacing with both community members and team members to ensure nutritious, high-quality meals are prepared and served efficiently. The hourly wage for this temporary position is set at $20, reflecting the value placed on skilled culinary work and adherence to health standards. The role offers opportunities for candidates experienced in commercial cooking or large-scale food preparation to leverage their skills in a dynamic, community-focused environment.
The role involves multiple responsibilities critical to the smooth functioning of the kitchen, including assisting with stocking and setting up workstations to ensure timely readiness for meal service. Preparing food encompasses a wide range of tasks such as cleaning and cutting ingredients, cooking main dishes, desserts, and appetizers following established recipes and quality protocols. Employees are also responsible for packaging prepared foods according to managerial instructions, which requires attention to detail and careful handling to maintain product integrity. Maintaining cleanliness is paramount; thus, washing and cleaning kitchen tools and utensils, as well as properly storing equipment at the end of shifts, ensures a safe and efficient workspace. The role also involves enforcing kitchen operational procedures and hygiene practices to comply with food safety standards and regulations, which protect both workers and consumers. Accurate identification of food quantities for meals, as well as ordering necessary supplies, is integral to meeting demand for community events and regular service. Beyond routine duties, this position may require the employee to perform a variety of office and field tasks as needed, underlining the versatile nature of work within this organization. Attention to proper maintenance of equipment and supervision of its use further supports operational safety and functionality in the kitchen environment.
Candidates interested in this role must hold a valid Washington State Food Handlers Permit and have at least one year of experience in commercial cooking or large-scale food preparation. This ensures they are well-versed with food safety and hygiene standards required for this position. The ideal candidate will possess specific skills such as the ability to plan menus, order food and supplies in large quantities, and apply nutritional knowledge suitable for diverse populations. Knowledge of Washington State Health and Fire codes, basic nutritional guidelines, and food service equipment is essential for compliance and quality control. Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team are also crucial. The work environment demands physical stamina, including standing, bending, lifting objects up to 50 pounds, and exposure to variable temperatures due to cooking and food storage processes. Overall, this temporary on-demand part-time kitchen position offers a meaningful opportunity to contribute to a community-focused organization dedicated to high-quality food service and cultural respect, while gaining valuable experience in a supportive and structured setting.
