Job Description
We are a well-established Food Service Department operating within a senior living community dedicated to delivering high-quality meals and exceptional service to our residents. Our department plays a crucial role in not only ensuring nutritional needs are met but also enhancing the overall living experience of seniors by providing meals that are both satisfying and prepared with attention to safety and quality. The role of the Food Service Support Assistant is crucial within our team. This position supports the Director of Food Service by assisting in various aspects of department management including planning, directing, controlling, communicating, and coaching staff. The primary responsibility is to respond to residents’ likes and dislikes ensuring meals are prepared to their satisfaction and comply with all safe food handling guidelines. Maintaining proper food temperatures and time controls during storage, preparation, and serving is essential to uphold food safety standards.
This role requires someone who is observant and proactive, as circulating in the dining room to engage with residents about their meal preferences and overall satisfaction is part of the daily routine. Keeping the kitchen and dining areas clean and sanitized is also part of the responsibilities to maintain a safe and pleasant environment. Additionally, teamwork and a positive attitude are highly valued, with an emphasis on supporting colleagues and contributing to a collaborative work atmosphere. The Food Service Support Assistant will occasionally be called upon to perform other duties as needed, reflecting the dynamic nature of our service environment. Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous experience in food service or similar role
- Understanding of food safety and hygiene standards
- Good communication skills
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
- Physical ability to stand and move during shifts
- Willingness to assist with various tasks as needed

Job Duties
- Support the Director with planning directing controlling communicating and coaching in the Food Service Department
- Respond to resident likes and dislikes maintaining high resident satisfaction
- Ensure that all foods are prepared to satisfaction of residents and in accordance with safe food handling practices
- Maintain food temperatures and time controls during storage production and serving according to required food safety standards
- Circulate in the dining room to ascertain resident preferences and satisfaction with meals
- Maintain a clean kitchen and dining area
- Foster teamwork with co-workers show initiative in overcoming obstacles take actions to assist others beyond job responsibilities and have a positive impact on co-workers residents and visitors
- Perform other duties as assigned or needed
