The Cook position at Sodexo is a full-time role based at Sacred Hearts Academy where the incumbent will be responsible for preparing, portioning, cooking, and presenting a variety of hot and cold food items across all meal periods and events. This role demands high standards in culinary quality, presentation, and consistency, in accordance with Sodexo’s rigorous culinary guidelines. The Cook works in a fast-paced kitchen environment and must ensure the safe handling of food products while maintaining an organized and sanitary workspace. Candidates must be capable of walking or standing for extended periods and performing tasks that require physical effort, including lifting and repetitive motions. Job Requirements

  • High School diploma, GED or equivalent experience
  • 0 to 2 years of related work experience
  • Knowledge of basic operation of equipment and food-handling procedures preferred
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
  • Good working knowledge of food preparation
  • Requires familiarity of kitchen equipment
  • Must be able to read and follow a recipe unsupervised

Job Duties

  • Prepare food in accordance with current federal, state, and corporate standards
  • Follow recipes and product directions for preparing, seasoning, cooking, tasting, carving, and serving various food items
  • Taste products, read menus, estimate food requirements, check production, and keep records to plan production and requisition supplies and equipment
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary workstation
  • Walk or stand for extended periods and perform physical tasks such as lifting and repetitive motions
  • Attend work regularly and punctually for scheduled shifts
  • Perform additional duties as assigned according to business needs and client requirements
