This position is for a full-time Cook in the PVH Food Nutrition department. The role involves preparing and cooking meals for patients, cafeteria patrons, and catering services within the hospital. The shift is during daytime hours with a work schedule of 64 hours every two weeks. The pay range for this position is $19.10 to $24.83 per hour, depending on the applicant’s experience. This is an onsite role, which means there are no hybrid or remote work options available. The cook will be responsible for reviewing menus and special orders to determine quantities and types of food preparation required. Following standardized recipes is essential, alongside planning the cooking schedule with supervisory staff to ensure timely and appropriate meal readiness. The individual will also need to collaborate closely with supervisors and executive chefs about diet modifications and the proper use of leftovers. The position demands adherence to all applicable food handling, safety, and sanitation guidelines and requires critical thinking, decisive judgment, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.

Job Duties

  • review menu and special orders to determine types and quantities of food items to be prepared
  • follow standardized recipes in preparation of all foods
  • plan cooking schedule with supervisor and/or executive chef to ensure food will be ready at specified times
  • confer with supervisor and/or executive chef regarding modified diet preparation and use of leftovers
  • adhere to all applicable guidelines regarding storage, handling and preparation of food as well as sanitation and maintenance of work area
  • use critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and ability to work with minimal supervision within scope of job
  • work efficiently in a fast-paced environment and take appropriate action
