Job Description

Trillium Family Services (TFS) is a prominent organization dedicated to improving the lives of children and families through compassionate care and comprehensive support. Located in the Portland Metro area, TFS focuses on creating safe communities where children are healthy, and every family has the opportunity for success. They provide essential services aimed at prevention, health, and emotional support, emphasizing the importance of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) throughout their operations. TFS's mission to build brighter futures for children and families is central to every program and service they offer. Their vision encompasses fostering environments rich in non-violence, growth, open communication, social responsibility, and emotional intelligence, which collectively empower children and families to thrive.

This role is based at the Parry Center for Children, a key facility within Trillium Family Services that supports children through quality care and services. The position offered is for a member of the dedicated dietary team at the Portland Metro location, providing a vital contribution to the health and wellbeing of clients and staff. This is a full-time role scheduled for 40 hours per week, mainly Tuesday through Saturday, from 6:00 am to 2:30 pm, with some variable on-call opportunities available. The starting rate of pay is $20.80 per hour.

The role involves the complete preparation, service, and cleaning of all items associated with the salad bar, as well as assistance with cooking duties as needed. In addition, the team member is responsible for meal preparation and serving to both clients and on-duty staff, ensuring high standards of nutrition, food safety, and customer service. This position requires adherence to food handling protocols and effective communication skills to maintain a positive dining experience.

TFS values candidates seeking meaningful work and career growth. The ideal applicant is someone who takes pride in providing excellent customer service and has good written and verbal communication skills. While a degree is not required, holding a current Food Handler’s Card is essential, and having one year or more experience in preparing and cooking large quantities of food for groups of 50 or more is preferred. Experience in hospital or facility batch cooking is also advantageous but not mandatory.

As an employer, TFS underscores its commitment to inclusivity and equity. Its culture embraces diverse backgrounds, skills, and views, affirming that inclusive teams deliver superior outcomes. TFS offers a supportive work environment with professional development opportunities, generous vacation and sick leave, and comprehensive benefits for eligible employees. Full-time staff enjoy 100% employer-paid medical, vision, and dental coverage, a 401k retirement plan with up to 6% matching contributions, and free meals during shifts.

Candidates considering this role should be aware that pay equity is a priority for TFS, with compensation aligned to experience and education in accordance with Oregon Equal Pay Law. The organization supports accessibility in its recruitment process and workplace, providing accommodations for applicants and employees with disabilities to ensure equitable participation.

Join Trillium Family Services and contribute to a mission-driven organization dedicated to empowering children and families through healthier, safer, and more supportive communities. Your work as part of the dietary team is crucial in nurturing the wellbeing of those served, helping to build a brighter future for the next generation of Oregonians.
