We are currently seeking a reliable and motivated Cook to join our culinary team at The Outlook at Windhaven. This role goes beyond the routine act of preparing meals; it is a vital position dedicated to enhancing the dining experience of our residents. The ideal candidate will find joy in preparing delicious, nutritious meals with an emphasis on quality, safety, and presentation. The Cook is responsible for preparing meals tailored to the unique dietary needs of seniors, including specialized therapeutic and puree diets, following established recipes and quality standards. This position requires a team-oriented individual who embraces the spirit of hospitality and understands the importance of meal service in a senior living context.

The successful Cook will be involved in a broad range of tasks that include planning and preparing meals in precise quantities, maintaining cleanliness and organization throughout the kitchen space, and adhering strictly to food safety protocols. Collaboration with kitchen staff and communication with management are crucial for maintaining timeline guides and portion control standards. A commitment to maintaining a safe, sanitary, and welcoming kitchen environment is expected. This position does require adherence to physical demands and the ability to work within a supportive yet fast-paced setting. The candidate must be able to work designated shifts punctually and reliably, wearing the appropriate protective gear, and exhibiting a service-oriented attitude towards residents, visitors, and co-workers alike. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 2-3 years of cooking experience
  • previous supervisory experience is a plus
  • previous senior living experience is a plus
  • ability to prepare meals in accordance with written menu, approved recipes and special diet requirements
  • ability to understand recipes
  • ability to read, write and effectively communicate in English
  • ability to perform work tasks within physical demand requirements
  • ability to comply with Resident Bill of Rights and employee responsibilities
  • ability to comply with organizational and departmental safety policies and procedures
  • ability to perform essential duties

  • taste, smell and observe food for conformity with recipes and appearance
  • comply with standards established by department manager
  • monitor portion control guidelines
  • follow posted timeline guides for cooks
  • perform other duties as assigned by chef
