Currently, Dial is seeking a dedicated Cook to join their culinary team. The position is responsible for preparing meals independently and managing food production with a keen focus on maintaining high standards of food quality and safety. As a crucial member supporting the Sous or Executive Chef, the Cook will ensure that meals are not only delicious but also attractively presented, catering to the special dietary needs of the senior residents. The role requires collaboration in menu planning, efficient inventory management, and adherence to strict cleanliness and food safety guidelines. Job Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • 2+ years of cooking experience in senior living, healthcare or restaurant setting

Job Qualifications

  • Strong knowledge of food safety and dietary guidelines
  • knowledge of state food-handling and kitchen regulations
  • ability to promote teamwork in providing services to residents
  • proficient in operation of kitchen appliances such as dishwasher, garbage disposal, microwave, coffee maker, ice machine, blender, food processor, meat slicer and mixer
  • ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 40 lbs
  • serveSafe or equivalent certification is preferred
  • willingness to learn and help others
  • enjoyment in working with older adults

Job Duties

  • Prepare and cook a variety of meals for residents with attention to quality and presentation
  • alter or adapt recipes to accommodate special dining needs of residents or to improve recipes
  • ensure attractive presentation of food on the plate before serving
  • identify food and supplies needed for the next week’s menus and report to the supervisor
  • participate in new menu and special menu planning
  • maintain cleanliness and organization of work area and kitchen/storage areas
  • ensure proper handling, labeling and storage of food for infection control
  • prepare meats for storage and portion control upon delivery
  • ensure proper storage of all delivered foods and ingredients
  • assist with dishwashing and kitchen sanitation, as needed
  • notify manager of food supply needs and malfunctioning equipment or appliances
  • assist in the recording of Ready-to-Use food items into the TELS website
  • record cooler, freezer and dish machine temperatures in the TELS website
  • report any on-the-job injuries to the supervisor before the end of the work shift on the day the injury occurs
  • maintain confidentiality of verbal and written information pertaining to residents, community operations and personnel
  • other duties as assigned
