Job Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- 2+ years of cooking experience in senior living, healthcare, or restaurant setting
Job Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of food safety and dietary guidelines
- Understand state food-handling and kitchen regulations
- Promote teamwork in providing services to residents
- Operate kitchen appliances including dishwasher, garbage disposal, microwave, coffee maker, ice machine, blender, food processor, meat slicer, mixer
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 40 lbs
- ServeSafe or equivalent certification is preferred
- Willingness to learn and help others
- Enjoyment in working with older adults
Job Duties
- Prepare and cook a variety of meals for residents with attention to quality and presentation
- Alter or adapt recipes to accommodate special dining needs of residents or to improve recipes
- Ensure attractive presentation of food on the plate before serving
- Identify food and supplies needed for the next week’s menus and report to the supervisor
- Participate in new menu and special menu planning
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of work area and kitchen/storage areas
- Ensure proper handling, labeling and storage of food for infection control
