The role of a per diem Cook at Parkside is a crucial position under the supervision of the Dietary Director. This role involves preparing and serving meals that meet nutritional standards and the specific dietary needs of residents. The Cook plays an integral part in ensuring that meals are not only timely and accurately portioned but also served at the correct temperatures to provide the highest quality dining experience. The position emphasizes the importance of food safety and sanitation, including the organization and cleanliness of kitchen and dining areas. This role also demands oversight capabilities, as the Cook supervises Dietary Assistants and the kitchen operations in the absence of the Dietary Director. Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- At least one year experience as a cook in a restaurant or large volume food service
- Must be at least eighteen years of age
- Ability to follow food safety and sanitation standards
- Ability to work under supervision and independently
- Good communication skills
- Ability to adhere to company policies and confidentiality guidelines

- Minimum age of eighteen years
Job Duties
- Prepare and serve meals in a timely manner meeting nutritional standards
- Follow recipes when preparing meals
- Assist in meal service ensuring attractive presentation and appropriate portions
- Perform advanced food preparation maintaining quality standards
- Follow proper sanitation and safety procedures
- Organize and ensure sanitation of storerooms, refrigeration units, kitchen and dining areas
- Supervise maintenance and cleaning of culinary equipment and work areas
- Monitor meal service quality, diet appropriateness, quantity, temperature, and appearance
- Follow food safety protocols for storage and disposal of leftovers
- Supervise Dietary Assistants and oversee Dietary Department operations in absence of Director
- Manage security of dietary items preventing loss
- Respect resident confidentiality and maintain a positive attitude toward residents, staff, and guests
- Participate in staff meetings and agency required trainings
- Follow all safety rules for self, residents, and staff
- Perform other duties necessary for program operation
