Job Description
The Alida is a distinguished hotel located on Savannah's revitalized riverfront, comprising 173 rooms that blend modern life with timeless Southern charm. Named after Alida Harper Fowlkes, a celebrated entrepreneur of Savannah, the hotel embodies the spirit of self-made artisans who shape the city's contemporary culture. This establishment serves as a vibrant hub for visitors seeking to experience the essence of Southern hospitality, wrapped in an environment that honors tradition while embracing the present. Guests at The Alida enjoy not only luxurious accommodations but also a carefully curated ambiance that connects them with Savannah's unique heritage and local flavor.
Within this exquisite setting, there is a unique opportunity available for an individual passionate about culinary arts and the power of food to bring people together. This role focuses heavily on creating intentional culinary experiences that connect guests to the local environment through the elevation of unique ingredients and flavors. The ideal candidate will be part of a team committed to maintaining high standards of kitchen safety and sanitation while delivering food of exceptional quality and presentation. Their work will take place in a fast-paced professional environment where efficiency, timeliness, and communication are paramount.
This position is integral to reinforcing the hotel's dedication to exceptional service and genuine hospitality. By preparing a variety of ingredients and recipes with precision and care, the culinary professional will help foster memorable dining experiences that celebrate the best of Southern cuisine. The role entails setting up, cleaning, and organizing workstations to ensure a seamless kitchen operation. Experienced cooks will find this role fulfilling, as it values professional cooking expertise and the ability to handle commercial restaurant cooking equipment proficiently. Additionally, this role promotes a collaborative atmosphere where front-of-house and back-of-house teams work in harmony to enhance the guest experience.
The company itself is part of the Makeready collection, a group that offers thoughtful benefits and perks tailored to support eligible team members. These perks range from accommodating paid time off to medical, dental, and vision benefits, alongside maternity and paternity leave. The organization also offers pet insurance, company-matched dependent care and 401k plans, as well as a student loan repayment program and a broad array of ancillary benefits. This commitment to employee well-being underscores the company’s belief in fostering not only professional growth but also personal happiness and health.
