The role of Cook at St. John's Riverside Hospital is vital in supporting the hospital’s food service operations by preparing nutritious, tasty, and safe meals for patients, staff, and visitors. This position requires an individual who can accurately and efficiently prepare entrees, starches, vegetables, soups, and other hot food items while following strict quality, safety, and sanitation standards. The Cook is responsible for preparing and portioning food ingredients prior to cooking, ensuring that all food items are cooked according to production sheets and recipe directions. This role demands a strong understanding of food safety and temperature standards and requires the safe operation and maintenance of industrial kitchen equipment such as stoves, broilers, steamers, kettles, knives, mixers, and food processors. Additionally, the Cook must maintain a clean, safe, and well-organized work area by sanitizing cooking equipment, sinks, and small-wares before and after food preparation. Working within specified time frames, the Cook plays an essential part in delivering meals that meet the nutritional needs of patients and adhere to hospital policies.   • accurately and efficiently cook prepare entrees starches vegetables soups and other hot food items
  • prepare and portion food ingredients prior to cooking
  • prepare all components of each meal in accordance with quality safety and sanitation standards recipe directions and production sheet requirements

  • clean maintain and organize a clean safe and organized work area
