The Cook position at Sodexo, located at P&G IC Beauty Care in Iowa City, offers a full-time employment opportunity with a pay rate from $18 to $19 per hour. This role primarily involves working weekday morning shifts, with additional scheduling details provided during the interview process. Job Requirements
- High school diploma, GED or equivalent experience
- 0 to 2 years of related work experience
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
- Knowledge of basic operation of equipment and food-handling procedures preferred
- Ability to walk or stand for extended periods
- Ability to reach, bend, stoop, push and/or pull frequently
- Ability to lift up to 35 pounds regularly and occasionally lift/move 50 pounds
- Ability to perform repetitive motions
- Punctuality and regular attendance
- Ability to work weekday morning shifts
- Willingness to perform additional duties as assigned
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma, GED or equivalent experience
- 0 to 2 years of related work experience in food preparation
- Knowledge of basic operation of kitchen equipment and food-handling procedures
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
- Good working knowledge of food preparation techniques
- Familiarity with kitchen safety and sanitation standards
- Strong attention to detail and ability to read and follow recipes unsupervised
Job Duties
- Prepare food in accordance with current applicable federal, state and corporate standards, guidelines, and regulations to ensure high-quality food service is provided
- Follow basic recipes and/or product directions for preparing, seasoning, cooking, tasting, carving, and serving soups, meats, vegetables, desserts, and other foodstuffs
- Taste products, read menus, estimate food requirements, check production, and keep records to accurately plan production requirements and requisition supplies and equipment
- Maintain a clean and organized workstation throughout shifts
- Ensure food safety and sanitation standards are consistently upheld
- Walk or stand for extended periods during shifts which may exceed 8 hours
- Assist with inventory control and kitchen equipment operation
- Collaborate effectively with kitchen team members to deliver high-quality meals and service
