The role of Cook at Sodexo in Buffalo, located at the M&T Bank Corp UPA, presents an exciting opportunity for individuals passionate about culinary arts and food service. This full-time position offers compensation ranging from $7.25 to $18.50 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications. The Cook will work varying shifts, with open availability preferred, supporting all meal periods and catering events while maintaining high culinary standards.

The Cook is responsible for preparing, portioning, cooking, and presenting an array of hot and cold food items following Sodexo's strict culinary standards for quality, consistency, and presentation. Working in a fast-paced kitchen environment requires efficiency, attention to detail, and adherence to food safety and sanitation protocols. This position emphasizes teamwork, requiring strong communication skills and collaboration with kitchen staff to ensure an exceptional dining experience for customers.

Additional responsibilities include accurately following recipes, seasoning, tasting, and serving a variety of dishes from soups and meats to vegetables and desserts. The Cook must also plan production requirements by estimating food needs, recording production data, and requisitioning supplies accordingly. Physical demands of the role include standing or walking for extended periods, frequently lifting weights up to 35 pounds, with occasional lifting up to 50 pounds, as well as performing repetitive motions.

Job Requirements

  • High School diploma, GED or equivalent experience
  • 0 to 2 years of related work experience
  • Knowledge of basic equipment operation and food-handling procedures preferred
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
  • Good working knowledge of food preparation
  • Familiarity with kitchen equipment required
  • Must be able to read and follow a recipe unsupervised
  • Ability to stand or walk for extended periods
  • Ability to lift frequently up to 35 pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to perform repetitive motions
  • Attend work and show for scheduled shift on time with satisfactory regularity
