It offers comprehensive medical services and strives to maintain a supportive and inclusive workplace where employees feel valued and empowered. The organization's dedication to quality healthcare is matched by its investment in employee development through rich benefits and ongoing education assistance, which fosters growth and professional advancement.
This position is for a full-time Cook at Intermountain Health Utah Valley Hospital. The role involves performing a variety of food production duties under general supervision, preparing and cooking food, serving customers, and completing miscellaneous tasks as assigned. The work schedule is full-time, requiring 40 hours per week, Thursday through Monday from 5:00 am to 1:30 pm, including rotating holiday and weekend coverage to support business needs. The hourly pay ranges from $19.31 to $25.11 based on experience, reflecting the organization's recognition of skills and expertise. This role plays a vital part in delivering nutritious and safe meals in a fast-paced healthcare environment where proper food handling, safety, sanitation, and customer service are paramount.
The Cook will follow established recipes and instructions to prepare food items and may be involved in bulk food preparation, large-scale production, line cooking, or the assembly of specialty meals including catered items. Maintaining an organized and sanitary working environment is critical, alongside ensuring proper product rotation and production quantities. The position requires interaction with customers across various venues including catering, retail outlets, and patient care. Additional duties may include delivering patient meals, operating cash registers, stocking supplies, and using both manual and automatic ware-washing machines.
Candidates for this role should possess a Food Handler Permit or ServSafe certification by the first day of work, with preference given to those having two or more years of experience in cooking in fast-paced healthcare or restaurant settings. The successful applicant will demonstrate excellent reading and communication skills, the ability to work independently and collaboratively, and proficiency in utilizing commercial cooking equipment. Safety in food handling and preparation, including modified diets where applicable, is essential.
Physical requirements include the ability to see and read labels and monitor equipment, communicate effectively with customers, and manual dexterity for handling complex equipment. The role involves lifting, transporting, and bending as necessary and standing for prolonged periods, with exposure to varying temperatures and cleaning chemicals being expected.
