The role of Cook at Elmhurst Healthcare is a full-time day shift position offering a competitive pay range of $22.50 to $23.65 per hour. In addition to a rewarding work environment, the role features sign-on and retention bonuses of $2,000 for full-time employees and $1,000 for part-time employees. The Cook is responsible for preparing and cooking food in large quantities according to diet, consistency, and menu cycles. This includes closely monitoring food handling, preparation, meal service, and equipment cleaning methods to ensure compliance with all federal, state, and departmental guidelines.
The Cook must read menus and recipes carefully and coordinate with the Food Service Director to ensure all meal preparation steps meet established standards. The ability to determine food quantities accurately and follow recipes strictly is essential. Maintaining cleanliness and sanitation in both supplies and equipment is a critical responsibility to promote food safety.

Job Duties
- Read menus, recipes, and reviews with Food Service Director all necessary steps in meal preparation
- Prepare all necessary menu items in accordance with established standards
- Determine quantity of all food needed in meal preparation
- Follow recipes
- Ensure that all federal, state, department, and other necessary government agency requirements are met in the preparation of food
- Ensure all supplies and equipment are kept in a clean/sanitary condition
- Promote a culture of safety
- Contribute to an environment that is respectful, team-oriented and responsive to the concerns of co-workers, residents and families
- Participate in quality improvement activities (QAPI) as requested
- Maintain confidentiality and protects sensitive Protected Health Information (HIPAA) at all times
