Job Description
Panda Restaurant Group, Inc., founded in 1983 in Glendale, California, has grown into the largest family-owned American Chinese Restaurant concept in the United States with nearly 2,800 locations worldwide. This well-established company is dedicated to delivering exceptional Asian dining experiences by building an organization where its people are inspired to improve their lives. Known for embracing family values and making a significant impact in the communities it serves, Panda Restaurant Group takes pride in cultivating a welcoming and vibrant environment for both its guests and associates. The company’s long-standing commitment to diversity and inclusion is evident through its Equal Opportunity Employer status, ensuring that every individual is treated fairly regardless of any protected characteristic under the law.
As a Panda Cook, you play a crucial role as a leader within the team and the heart of the kitchen. Your responsibilities center around creating delicious food with passion, providing service with heart, and contributing to an enjoyable ambiance with pride. This position offers you the chance to be part of a fast-paced, growth-oriented restaurant environment where team collaboration and individual dedication are valued. You will be at the forefront of delivering the company’s promise of high-quality Asian cuisine prepared according to precise recipes and standards. Beyond cooking, you will support and guide kitchen team members, assist with their training, and ensure the kitchen operates smoothly by performing all back-of-house duties efficiently.
The role requires the ability to handle high-temperature work areas, maintain accuracy under pressure, and manage kitchen equipment skillfully. Physical demands such as standing for long periods, lifting up to 50 lbs, and reaching across countertops necessitate stamina and physical readiness. Strong verbal communication skills and adaptability to rapidly changing priorities are essential to manage conflicts and maintain a harmonious work atmosphere. Employees are expected to uphold food safety regulations and acquire any necessary local or municipal certifications, such as Food Handler certifications, at their own expense.
Joining Panda Restaurant Group as a Cook provides a rewarding employment experience with flexible scheduling, competitive pay, and valuable benefits. Full-time associates have access to medical, vision, dental, and disability insurance, along with 401K plans with company matching, paid time off including vacation and bereavement leave, and opportunities for leadership development and career advancement. The company also fosters a supportive culture through associate discounts, referral bonuses, and community engagement initiatives. Whether you are starting a career in the food service industry or looking to grow in management, Panda offers hands-on paid training and ongoing professional growth avenues to set you up for success.
This position is ideal for individuals who thrive in energetic environments, value teamwork, and are passionate about food and hospitality. Panda Restaurant Group values diversity and ensures reasonable accommodations during the application and employment process to enable all candidates to demonstrate their abilities fully. By becoming a part of the Panda team, you contribute to a family-oriented company that has remained strong and influential in the restaurant industry for decades, committed to creating memorable dining experiences for guests and meaningful careers for employees.
