At the Irvine Company location in Newport Beach, Sodexo is currently seeking a part-time Cook. This role provides an exciting opportunity to be part of an influential team that delivers high-quality culinary services. The position offers competitive pay ranging from $21.50 to $23.00 per hour, with work scheduled primarily on weekends and varying shifts. This Cook role plays a crucial part in ensuring the preparation and presentation of hot and cold food items align with Sodexo's rigorous culinary standards. Working in a fast-paced kitchen environment, the successful candidate will be responsible for preparing, portioning, cooking, and presenting a range of dishes for all meal periods and events. The role requires dedication to food safety, sanitation, quality, consistency, and teamwork, which collectively contribute to an exceptional dining experience.
The Cook will follow established recipes and food-handling protocols, accurately preparing items such as soups, meats, vegetables, and desserts. Attention to detail is paramount, as the position involves tasting products to maintain quality, monitoring production levels, and assisting with supply requisition. Physical demands of the role include extended periods of standing or walking, the ability to lift and move items weighing up to 50 pounds, and perform repetitive motions typical within a culinary setting. Responsiveness and punctuality are essential, with an expectation to arrive on time and maintain regular attendance. While primary responsibilities focus on food preparation, the Cook may also be assigned additional duties based on client needs and business requirements, ensuring versatility and adaptability within the role.

Job Requirements
- High School diploma, GED or equivalent experience
- 0 to 2 years of related work experience
- Knowledge of basic operation of equipment and food-handling procedures preferred
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
- Good working knowledge of food preparation
- Requires familiarity of kitchen equipment
- Must be able to read and follow a recipe unsupervised

Job Duties
- Prepare food in accordance with current applicable federal, state and corporate standards, guidelines, and regulations to ensure high-quality food service is provided
- Follow basic recipes and/or product directions for preparing, seasoning, cooking, tasting, carving, and serving soups, meats, vegetables, desserts, and other foodstuffs for consumption in eating establishments
- Taste products, read menus, estimate food requirements, check production, and keep records to accurately plan production requirements and requisition supplies and equipment
- Perform significant walking or other means of mobility throughout the shift
- Walk or stand for extended periods of time, which may exceed 8 hours
- Reach, bend, stoop, push and/or pull, and frequently lift up to 35 pounds and occasionally lift/move 50 pounds
- Perform repetitive motions as required
- Attend work and show up for scheduled shifts on time with satisfactory regularity
- Perform other duties as assigned based on business necessities and client requirements
