We are actively seeking a full-time Cook who is enthusiastic about hospitality and eager to contribute to our Culinary Services Department. This role involves hands-on production cooking with an emphasis on maintaining culinary excellence and adhering to standardized recipes and safety standards. The Cook will be responsible for managing various kitchen stations efficiently, preparing a wide array of dishes including soups, sauces, and entrees that are sautéed, fried, grilled, steamed, or baked. This position requires flexibility, as the schedule varies with shifts spanning mornings, afternoons, and evenings from Monday through Saturday, as well as a Sunday shift. Weekend availability is a must. The Cook will play a crucial part in ensuring that all meals served meet our high standards for quality, temperature, and presentation, reflecting The Cypress's commitment to resident satisfaction.

Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- minimum of three years of cooking experience in a relevant setting
- ability to work flexible hours including weekends and varied shifts
- ability to communicate effectively in English
- physical ability to perform kitchen duties
- willingness to comply with food safety guidelines
- reliable transportation or means to commute to Charlotte, NC
Job Qualifications
- SERVSafe certification preferred
- experience in hospital or senior living preferred
- ability to perform simple arithmetic and understand measurements and conversions
- a minimum of three years’ experience as a cook in a hotel, restaurant, club or similar institution
- ability to plan and organize work, to interpret instructions, recipes, specifications and standards
- knowledge of kitchen equipment operations and maintenance
- some knowledge of nutrition and diet
- must be able to effectively communicate, read, write, and follow oral and written instructions in English
Job Duties
- Ability to work all stations in the kitchen
- efficiently runs assigned station during the shift, follow all specs, and stock food as needed
- maintains the quality of food and plate presentation
- prepares all soups, stocks, sauces
- boils, braises and roasts items as per standardized recipes
- prepares and serves all sautéed, fried, grilled, steamed and baked items as per standardized recipes
- prepares or directs the preparation of all food served, following standard recipes and special diet orders
- plans food production to coordinate with meal serving hours, so that excellence, quality, temperature and appearance of food is preserved
- determines amount and type of food and supplies required for daily menus and ensures supplies are obtained in adequate time for meal production
