The Dietary Worker is responsible for assisting in menu planning, cooking in bulk, maintaining cleanliness of kitchen facilities, and recording food temperatures and cleaning tasks. This position involves cooking foods that meet various dietary needs, including low-sodium, diabetic-friendly, and religious considerations, ensuring that every meal contributes to the health and satisfaction of seniors. It is a physically engaging job requiring the ability to perform medium work, including lifting up to 50 pounds and performing repetitive motions with hands and arms. Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Experience in cooking or food preparation preferred
- Ability to work in a fast-paced kitchen environment
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation rules
- Ability to follow recipes and dietary guidelines

Job Qualifications
- Knowledge of food service operations, menu planning, and meal preparation
- Knowledge of cooking food in bulk for a large number of people
- Knowledge of nutrition
- Knowledge of general health regulations regarding kitchen operations, food handling, and food storage
- Knowledge of local and state health standards required for food handlers
- Knowledge of applicable Federal, State, and local laws, rules, and regulations
- Knowledge of recordkeeping practices and principles
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
- Knowledge of customer service principles
- Skill in cooking and serving meals in bulk
- Skill in comprehending and carrying out oral and written instructions
- Skill in providing customer service
- Skill in interpreting, complying, and ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations
- Skill in preparing and maintaining records and reports
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Job Duties
- Cooks, seasons, and prepares appetizing meals and snacks according to recipes and menus
- Maintains a clean sanitary kitchen and stores food according to health department, state, and local regulations
- May prepare meals that accommodate special nutritional guidelines or dietary restrictions like low-sodium, diabetic, or religious requirements
- Inventories food, supplies, and equipment and notifies Kitchen Manager when items are needed
- Assists with serving meals and cleaning up the kitchen and dining area afterwards
- Maintains daily logs of food temperature and cleaning tasks
- Performs other related work as required
