Job Description

First Watch is a nationally recognized leader in the daytime dining industry, celebrated for its chef-driven approach and commitment to fresh, high-quality ingredients. With more than 630 locations across 32 states, First Watch specializes in serving made-to-order breakfast, brunch, and lunch in a warm and inviting atmosphere. Known for their innovative and rotating menu — inspired by their "Follow the Sun" culinary philosophy — they offer an array of fan-favorite dishes such as the Lemon Ricotta Pancakes, Quinoa Power Bowl, and their signature Million Dollar Bacon, alongside fresh-squeezed juices like the Kale Tonic. Recognized consistently as a top workplace, First Watch was voted #1 Best Breakfast by Newsweek's Readers' Choice Awards 2025 and named the #1 Most Loved Workplace in America for 2024 and 2025 by the Best Practice Institute, accolades recently highlighted by The Wall Street Journal.

At First Watch, the culture revolves around a 'YOU FIRST' philosophy, placing employee happiness and empowerment at the core of daily operations. This philosophy ensures no night shifts ever and a work environment where team members are encouraged and authorized to make decisions that enhance the guest experience. The restaurant values a respectful, team-oriented environment where employees feel genuinely cared for — "loving their employees more than bacon," which underscores their dedication to workforce well-being.

The Back-of-the-House team is crucial to First Watch’s success, maintaining the high standards of quality and food safety in a fast-paced kitchen environment. Individuals joining as cooks can expect comprehensive training tailored to their skill level, specializing in specific stations without pressure to master every culinary technique immediately. The role involves careful preparation and presentation of food following award-winning chef recipes, ensuring every plate reflects quality and the freshest ingredients available. The work environment nurtures teamwork, respect, and cleanliness, which are vital to maintaining a safe and enjoyable kitchen.

Employees at First Watch benefit from a robust set of perks and benefits designed to support their health, well-being, and professional growth. Full-time employees are eligible for health insurance, dental and vision coverage, medical and behavioral telemedicine access, flexible spending accounts for healthcare and dependent care, a 401(k) retirement savings program, and a substantial meal discount on all company restaurants including for their families. Additional benefits include an employee assistance program offering personal and professional coaching, supplemental insurance options, paid time off, tuition reimbursement and high school diploma programs, premium access to wellness apps, and exclusive discounts on travel, fitness, and more.

The cook position plays an essential role in crafting an exceptional dining experience focused on breakfast and brunch offerings that delight guests. Those interested in joining will find a supportive environment that blends high culinary standards with respect for each individual’s contributions, fostering growth and enjoyment in every shift. If you care about working in a team that values you, enjoys exceptional meals, and has a true passion for daytime dining, First Watch welcomes your application.
