This contract to hire position is based in Austin, TX, at a busy hospital catering to over 700 guests daily. The role is focused on supporting the hospital’s food service operations as a Trayline/Cart Runner. The key responsibility involves preparing food trays and delivering carts to patient rooms, ensuring precise attention to detail to accommodate special diets and patient preferences. Beyond tray preparation and delivery, the employee will assist various stations within the kitchen during peak periods, requiring flexibility and a cooperative team spirit. This position demands someone comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, with prior experience in quick service or fast-paced restaurant settings being highly preferred.
The Trayline/Cart Runner position operates on shifts that rotate throughout the week, which includes early morning, midday, and evening shifts, as well as weekend work. Though the schedule varies, the role generally offers two days off per week. Compensation for this role ranges from $18.00 to $18.50 per hour, reflecting the essential nature and demands of the position. Candidates are expected to have at least 1.5 years of experience in the food service industry and to have demonstrated stability by holding jobs for at least 1.5 years with previous employers. Physical stamina is important, as the job requires lifting up to 50 pounds and pushing carts weighing up to 100 pounds. Since the work takes place in a hospital, applicants should feel comfortable and professional in a healthcare environment.
Aerotek emphasizes a people-first mindset and supports its workers with a comprehensive benefits package. For eligible employees, benefits may include medical, dental, and vision insurance, as well as additional protections like critical illness coverage, accident insurance, and hospital indemnity plans. Employees can take advantage of retirement savings options including a 401(k) plan with pre-tax and Roth contributions. Life insurance policies, short- and long-term disability plans, healthcare spending accounts, employee assistance programs, and transportation benefits are also offered. The company fosters an inclusive workplace that upholds equal opportunity principles, ensuring that all applicants receive fair consideration regardless of race, sex, age, disability status, or any other legally protected characteristic.
This opportunity is ideal for individuals who thrive in dynamic work settings, value teamwork, and seek to develop their careers within a well-regarded staffing agency that supports long-term growth. With Aerotek’s commitment to employee success and its extensive network of employer partners, candidates can look forward to meaningful employment and potential advancement while contributing to important hospital food service operations.
