Job Description

Sodexo is a global leader in quality of life services, dedicated to improving the daily experiences of individuals and communities worldwide. Established as a prominent provider of food services, catering, facilities management, and integrated solutions, Sodexo operates in a multitude of sectors including corporate, educational, healthcare, and government. At its core, Sodexo is committed to creating better everyday experiences for everyone it serves by enhancing the quality of life for clients, customers, and employees alike. This commitment is reflected in the company’s focus on diversity, inclusivity, fairness, and respect within the workplace, ensuring every employee feels valued and heard.

Sodexo prides itself on fostering a strong sense of culture and belonging, promoting an environment where individuals from varied backgrounds are encouraged to be themselves and contribute their ideas. The company’s adherence to equal employment opportunity principles supports a diverse workforce, free from discrimination based on race, gender identity, age, disability, veteran status, and other protected characteristics. With a global footprint, Sodexo tailors its services to meet the unique needs of local communities while maintaining high standards of quality and safety.

The role of Cook at Sodexo, located within the Belmont University account, offers full-time employment with a competitive hourly wage ranging from $18.00 to $23.00. This position requires flexibility in work shifts and availability, with hours and days varying to meet the operational demands of a fast-paced kitchen environment. The cook will be integral in supporting Sodexo’s mission to deliver exceptional dining experiences by preparing, cooking, and presenting a variety of hot and cold dishes that adhere to culinary excellence, food safety, and sanitation standards.

As a Cook, you will engage in an energizing work environment where accuracy, efficiency, and teamwork are paramount. Your responsibilities will include following detailed recipes and food preparation guidelines to ensure consistency and quality across all meal periods and special events. Working closely with kitchen staff, this role demands a strong understanding of food handling procedures, proper use of kitchen equipment, and the ability to sustain a clean and organized work area. Moreover, the position encourages continual learning and development, as Sodexo provides access to ongoing training and career advancement opportunities.

Beyond the culinary skills, this role requires physical endurance, as cooks are expected to stand and move throughout their shifts, sometimes lasting over eight hours. They must be capable of lifting and moving ingredients and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds. Given the variable nature of the foodservice industry, additional duties may be assigned according to client needs and business requirements. Sodexo recognizes the effort and dedication of its employees, offering a flexible and supportive work environment, paid time off, comprehensive benefits including medical, dental, vision coverage, tuition reimbursement, and 401k plans. Some locations may also provide site-specific perks such as free meals, uniforms, safety shoes, and transportation assistance.

Joining Sodexo means becoming part of a purpose-driven organization that values your unique contributions while enabling you to thrive professionally and personally. This is more than just a cook position; it is an opportunity to be part of a team that believes in making a positive impact every day by serving nourishing meals and fostering a respectful and inclusive community environment. At Belmont University and beyond, Sodexo is dedicated to creating memorable dining experiences and supporting the well-being of its employees, making it an employer of choice for culinary professionals seeking growth and stability.
