The role of Cook at MemorialCare, located in Laguna Hills, falls within the Kitchen department and is a full-time, day-shift position offering competitive hourly wages ranging from $22.50 to $31.57, depending on experience and qualifications. The Cook’s primary responsibility is to contribute to the mission of Saddleback Memorial Medical Center by ensuring the efficient, cost-effective, and high-quality production of food that meets stringent safety and hygiene standards. The position requires a deep commitment to the core values and strategic goals of the medical center, with a focus on delivering exceptional food services to multiple outlets, including patient meals, the cafeteria, meals on wheels, physicians’ lounge, and catering events.

Key duties encompass the accurate receipt and storage of requisitioned items, strict adherence to standardized recipes in accordance with HACCP protocols, timely and precise production and delivery of diverse menu items, and the safe operation and sanitation of kitchen equipment. Additionally, the role requires savvy utilization of leftovers to minimize waste, punctuality, compliance with company policies, and constructive interpersonal interactions within a dynamic kitchen environment. The cook must be able to prioritize tasks and multitask effectively to maintain smooth kitchen operations. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • One year of quantity food preparation experience
  • Previous experience in restaurant or hospital foodservice
  • Ability to follow standardized recipes and HACCP standards
  • Punctuality and adherence to company policies
  • Ability to operate and clean kitchen equipment safely
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills

Job Qualifications

  • Previous restaurant or acute care hospital foodservice experience
  • One year of quantity food preparation experience
  • High school diploma or GED preferred
