The Cook position at Presto Pasta is a key role responsible for preparing menu items accurately and efficiently within assigned areas such as meats, vegetables, pasta, and salads. This role requires the ability to multitask and work quickly to ensure that menu items are prepared in accordance with projected ratios and ready at least 10 minutes prior to opening. The cook will maintain a professional image, adhere to uniform standards, and keep all work areas and storage spaces clean and organized. Holding a valid California food handler's card is a must, and the cook is expected to have a master knowledge of food items and recipes to consistently produce quality dishes. The role also demands flexibility to assist in different kitchen areas, particularly during preparation and closing shifts, ensuring that all food items are properly discarded, restocked, and maintained. Adherence to food safety and sanitation standards is critical to guarantee guest safety and uphold the restaurant’s reputation.

This full-time role involves physical demands such as standing for extended periods, lifting up to 50 pounds, bending, stooping, and working around high heat. Team lifting is required for heavier or awkward items. The cook must exhibit reliability in attendance and be willing to perform other duties, tasks, or projects as assigned. Job Qualifications

  • Good communication skills and ability to work as part of a team
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Physical ability to perform required duties including lifting and standing for long periods

Job Duties

  • Cooks work in assigned areas such as meats, vegetables, pasta and salads
  • Able to multi-task and maintain stock of menu items efficiently and accurately
  • Read menus to prepare menu items in accordance with projected ratios no later than 10 minutes prior to opening
  • Maintain a strong professional image and follow uniform standards
  • Keep assigned area and walk-ins clean and clutter free
  • Maintain master knowledge of food items and recipes
  • Wash dishes as necessary
  • Assist in preparation and closing in all back of house areas when needed
  • Discard, restock and maintain all food items when closing
  • Ensure proper food safety and sanitation standards at all times
  • Maintain organized walk-ins and complete cleaning and operational checklists
  • Maintain attendance in accordance with the employee handbook
  • Perform other duties, tasks and projects as assigned
