The department is hiring for a part-time Food Services Worker position, limited to no more than 29 hours per week. This role is essential in supporting the operational needs of the department by providing food services that meet nutritional and safety standards. The Food Services Worker will be responsible for meal preparation, service, sanitation, inventory management, and supervising interns and volunteers to assist in the food service delivery. The ideal candidate for this position must hold a high school diploma or GED supplemented with vocational or technical training in cooking, baking, culinary arts, or a related field. Candidates with ServSafe Food Safety Certification issued through the National Restaurant Association are preferred, reflecting the importance of food safety knowledge in the role. Experienced candidates who demonstrate proficiency in performing essential culinary functions and adherence to county policies will excel in this position. The Food Services Worker will prepare meals according to approved menus, ensuring food is cooked and served at proper temperatures and portions. Maintaining cleanliness and sanitation throughout kitchens, cafeterias, and food preparation areas is critical to meeting health standards.
Additional responsibilities include managing inventory, inspecting food deliveries, labeling food items, completing logs for refrigerator and freezer temperatures, and documenting meals served. Job Duties
- prepares meals following approved menus including chopping slicing mixing measuring cooking and warming food to proper temperatures
- serves prepared food regulating meal eligibility scanning badges regulating portion control maintaining records of meals served
- sanitizes and cleans kitchen and cafeteria surfaces equipment utensils pots pans dishes and trash cans maintaining cleanliness of refrigerators freezers and storerooms
- maintains inventory and documentation inspecting food and supply deliveries storing products completing temperature logs labeling products completing requisition forms
- supervises trains and coordinates interns and volunteers
- performs other related duties as required
