The role of Cook at Cogir Senior Living is a vital position that offers the chance to impact the lives of senior residents positively every day. Working within the community restaurant, the Cook will prepare fresh, nutritious, and appealing meals that meet the diverse tastes and dietary requirements of residents, team members, prospective residents, families, and guests. The role involves collaborating closely with the culinary director to provide an array of culinary options ranging from comforting traditional meals to innovative dishes inspired by global cuisines. Seasonal menus featuring fresh, local ingredients ensure variation and quality. A distinctive feature of this role is the commitment to cooking and baking nearly everything from scratch, which demands a high level of skill, creativity, and passion for culinary arts. Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Food handler card
- At least one year of kitchen experience
- Knowledge of kitchen equipment
- Ability to read recipes
- Ability to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays
- Understanding of kitchen sanitation and food safety regulations
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Culinary school is a plus, or the equivalent of education and experience
- Food handler card with an understanding of kitchen sanitation and food codes
- At least one year of experience in full-service kitchen surroundings, including following recipes and cooking dishes from scratch
- Knowledge of kitchen equipment and knife handling skills
- Ability to read and execute a recipe
- Proficiency in preparing a variety of meals, including large-batch cooking
- Availability to work flexible shifts, including weekends and holidays
Job Duties
- Be a part of a compassionate and high-performing team to redefine senior living and deliver top-level results
- Prepare and cook meals following established menus, recipes, dietary, and sanitary guidelines
- Set up and break down work areas in a timely fashion
- Keep all stations clean and sanitized
- Collaborate with the dining services team to ensure timely meal service
- Check and restock all foods for proper service
- Adhere to local, state, and federal health and safety regulations
- Participate in required training sessions, including food handling and safety certifications
- Ensure proper handling and storage of cleaning supplies and chemicals
- Aid in all kitchen operations as needed
