Job Description
WestCare Foundation is a prominent nonprofit organization dedicated to fostering a healthy and safe environment through comprehensive residential and community-based programs. Specializing in recovery, health services, and social support, the foundation aims to empower individuals and improve community wellness through evidence-based practices and compassionate care. WestCare operates multiple facilities and programs that address substance abuse, mental health, and transitional living, among other vital community services. The organization emphasizes a collaborative approach, driven by its mission, vision, and guiding principles to promote positive outcomes for its clients and staff alike.
The position at WestCare Foundation involves the vital role of overseeing food preparation, storage, and supply within the residential programs. This role requires a dedicated and detail-oriented individual who will ensure all aspects of food service operations meet high health, safety, and regulatory standards. Reporting to supervisory personnel, the individual will be responsible for menu planning, food ordering, and overall management of kitchen operations while ensuring compliance with California State Health Codes for commercial kitchens. The role demands vigilance in maintaining cleanliness, sanitation, and adherence to safety protocols, including the use of hairnets or caps in food preparation and serving areas. This position also entails supervising food service staff, managing inventory, and guaranteeing meals are prepared on schedule to meet the nutritional needs of residents and staff.
The food services position at WestCare is critical for maintaining the well-being of the residents by providing quality meals in a safe and hygienic environment. It includes conducting taste tests, preserving meal samples to monitor food safety, and ensuring proper labeling and storage of leftover food in accordance with sanitary food handling requirements. Equipment maintenance and safety awareness are also key aspects, requiring regular checks and timely reporting of any repair needs. The role also highlights the importance of embodying WestCare Foundation’s mission, vision, guiding principles, and clinical goals with a commitment to professional standards and high-quality food handling practices.
This opportunity typically requires a minimum of two years’ experience in institutional or large-group food service and the ability to pass criminal history screenings along with meeting clearance standards set by the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR). Additional certifications such as CPR, First Aid, and routine tuberculosis testing are mandatory. Employees are expected to comply with vaccination mandates applicable to those working in residential and health service settings to enhance safety within the organization. By joining WestCare Foundation as a Food Services Supervisor or similar role, candidates will contribute directly to the holistic care and supportive atmosphere that WestCare strives to provide in its residential environments.
