The Full-Time Cook position at Dial is essential to maintaining the high standards of food quality, safety, and presentation critical to a senior living community. This role entails independently preparing meals that meet diverse dietary needs, including special accommodations for residents with specific health requirements. The cook will support the Sous or Executive Chef by contributing to menu planning, managing food production, and ensuring all meals served are both nutritious and appealing in appearance. The position demands not only culinary skills but also meticulous attention to detail in food handling and kitchen sanitation.

The role requires the cook to operate various kitchen appliances efficiently, maintain a clean and organized work environment, and adhere strictly to food safety regulations. Job Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • 2+ years of cooking experience in senior living, healthcare, or restaurant setting
  • Strong knowledge of food safety and dietary guidelines
  • State food-handling and kitchen regulations
  • Ability to operate kitchen appliances such as dishwasher, garbage disposal, microwave, coffee maker, ice machine, blender, food processor, meat slicer, mixer
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 40 lbs

Job Qualifications

  • 2+ years of cooking experience in senior living, healthcare, or restaurant setting
  • Strong knowledge of food safety and dietary guidelines
  • State food-handling and kitchen regulations
  • Ability to operate kitchen appliances such as dishwasher, garbage disposal, microwave, coffee maker, ice machine, blender, food processor, meat slicer, mixer
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 40 lbs
  • ServeSafe or equivalent certification preferred
  • Willingness to learn and help others
  • Enjoyment in working with older adults

Job Duties

  • Prepare and cook a variety of meals for residents with attention to quality and presentation
  • Alter or adapt recipes to accommodate special dining needs of residents or to improve recipes
  • Ensure attractive presentation of food on the plate before serving
  • Identify food and supplies needed for the next week’s menus and report to the supervisor
  • Participate in new menu and special menu planning
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of work area and kitchen/storage areas
  • Ensure proper handling, labeling and storage of food for infection control
  • Prepare meats for storage and portion control upon delivery
  • Ensure proper storage of all delivered foods and ingredients
  • Assist with dishwashing and kitchen sanitation as needed
  • Notify manager of food supply needs and malfunctioning equipment or appliances
  • Assist in recording ready-to-use food items and temperature monitoring in the TELS website
  • Report any on-the-job injuries to the supervisor promptly
  • Maintain confidentiality of verbal and written information pertaining to residents and personnel
  • Perform other duties as assigned
