This position involves bringing recipes to life while giving room for culinary creativity, using fresh ingredients and top-notch kitchen equipment. The role goes beyond basic food preparation, as it encourages experimenting with various cuisines, flavors, and cooking methods to deliver outstanding dishes. Cooks at Aramark follow production guidelines and safety procedures designed to maintain high standards of food quality and employee health.
As a cook, you will be responsible for preparing, cooking, and presenting a variety of food items using several cooking methods including baking, roasting, broiling, steaming, and more. You will manage your workstation by setting it up with all the necessary ingredients and equipment and follow standardized recipes to ensure consistency. This role demands a keen attention to food safety practices, including proper food storage, sanitation, and adherence to company safety policies. The position may require physical activity such as lifting, bending, pushing, pulling, standing for extended periods, and possibly wearing uniforms or personal protective equipment (PPE).
In addition to food preparation, the cook will maintain a clean and organized workspace, ensure proper use of kitchen utensils and equipment, and uphold Aramark’s standards for customer service by interacting positively and professionally with guests, co-workers, and clients. Job Requirements
- Experience as a cook or in a related role required
- knowledge of basic principles of food preparation and safety regulations
- ability to acquire food safety certification
- basic math and counting skills
- good interpersonal communication skills
- ability to lift, bend, push, pull, and stand for extended periods
- willingness to wear uniforms and use personal protective equipment
- adherence to safety and sanitation policies
- ability to maintain a positive attitude and work well in a team environment
Job Qualifications
- Experience as a cook or in a related role required
- validated knowledge of the basic principles of food preparation, various cooking methods, and food safety regulations such as accurate food handling, sanitation, and storage
- must be able to acquire food safety certification
- demonstrate basic math and counting skills
- demonstrates interpersonal communication skills, both written and verbal
Job Duties
- Cooks and prepare a variety of food according to production guidelines and standardized recipes
- sets up workstation with all needed ingredients and equipment
- prepares ingredients by measuring, weighing, mixing, chopping, trimming, and peeling food items
- safely uses a variety of utensils including knives
- operates equipment such as ovens, stoves, slicers, mixers
- bakes, roasts, broils, steams, and uses a variety of cooking methods on meat, vegetables, and other foods
- arranges, garnishes, and portions food according to established guidelines
- properly stores food by adhering to food safety policies and procedures
- cleans and sanitizes work areas, equipment, and utensils
- maintains excellent customer service and positive demeanor towards guests, customers, clients, co-workers
- adheres to Aramark safety policies and procedures including accurate food safety and sanitation
- ensures security of company assets
