Job Description
Panda Restaurant Group, Inc. is a renowned and family-owned American Chinese restaurant concept that began its journey in Glendale, California, in 1983. Over the years, it has evolved into the largest family-owned Asian dining chain in the United States, boasting close to 2,800 locations worldwide. The company holds a deep commitment to delivering exceptional Asian dining experiences by fostering an organizational culture where employees are empowered and encouraged to improve their lives. Panda is not only passionate about the food it serves but also devoted to embracing family values, community support, and equal opportunity employment, which makes it a highly respected and inclusive workplace. With a reputation founded on hospitality, quality, and teamwork, Panda Restaurant Group continues to grow and thrive in the competitive restaurant industry.
As a Cook at Panda, you will play a vital role as a leader within the kitchen and the broader team. You will be responsible for preparing food with passion, ensuring every dish meets the company's exacting recipes and standards. This role is central to creating a warm and welcoming environment that reflects the company’s brand and values. Working in this fast-paced and growth-oriented environment, you will not only develop your culinary skills but also have the opportunity to support and guide the kitchen team. This includes assisting in training new staff and carrying out all back-of-house duties essential to the smooth running of the restaurant. The Panda Cook is more than just a job; it is a chance to be part of a family-oriented company that values dedication, teamwork, and quality service.
The position requires a hands-on approach where you will be engaged in preparing both hot and cold foods using the appropriate kitchen equipment, including Chinese cook knives. You will need to work efficiently while maintaining accuracy under high-pressure conditions and in an environment where kitchens are typically hot and noisy. Panda values associates who can adapt well to changing priorities and can handle difficult situations with effective communication and conflict management skills.
Additionally, this employment opportunity offers flexible work schedules and competitive pay. Full-time associates are eligible for an impressive benefits package, including medical, vision, and dental insurance, short-term disability and cancer income protection insurance, 401K plans with company match, health care spending accounts, and paid time off for vacations, sick leave, and bereavement. The company also provides free meals during shifts and various associate discounts. Furthermore, Panda Restaurant Group emphasizes career and leadership development and offers opportunities for growth into management positions, making this a rewarding career path for individuals passionate about the culinary arts and hospitality.
