Job Description
The hiring establishment is a vibrant, fast-paced restaurant focused on delivering high-quality food products and exceptional customer service to its patrons. This restaurant operates within the food service industry, emphasizing cleanliness, efficiency, and maintaining rigorous operational standards to uphold its reputation and customer satisfaction. The facility is committed to creating a safe and welcoming environment for its employees and guests alike, fostering teamwork and professional growth among its staff.
The position available is for a Cook, working under the immediate supervision of the Manager on Duty (MOD). This role is classified as nonexempt, indicating that it is an hourly position often subject to overtime pay regulations. The Cook will be responsible for cooking, preparing, and packaging food products according to established operational and quality standards. The ideal candidate will be someone who enjoys working in a dynamic environment, is attentive to detail, and is dedicated to following food safety and sanitation practices meticulously.
The Cook will operate various cooking and food preparation stations, including the dresser, front swamp, back swamp, grill, and other food prep areas as assigned by management. This role requires adherence to all company policies and operational procedures to ensure that the food quality remains consistent and meets the restaurant’s standards. A key aspect of the position involves performing regular cleaning and sanitation tasks, such as trash disposal, mopping, sweeping, washing dishes, wiping counters, sanitizing areas, cleaning equipment, and emptying used grease. This attention to cleanliness is vital in maintaining a safe food preparation environment and complying with health regulations.
In addition to the primary cooking and sanitation responsibilities, the Cook is expected to report any customer or employee issues to the Manager on Duty promptly. The role demands some physical strength, as the employee will need to move and stock food products weighing up to 50 pounds regularly. This position requires irregular hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays, to meet the needs of the restaurant’s operating schedule. The Cook should possess basic math and reading skills and be capable of effective verbal and written communication. The ability to multitask efficiently and follow directions accurately is essential to thrive in this role.
The work environment is physically demanding, involving continuous standing, bending, reaching, moving, stooping, stretching, and lifting in a restaurant setting. The Cook will often be exposed to heat and hot liquids, particularly shortening used during cooking, and will spend frequent time in freezers while stocking food items. Occasional exposure to extreme temperatures may occur, depending on weather conditions. This role is well-suited for individuals who enjoy active, hands-on work in the culinary field and are committed to maintaining high food safety and quality standards.
