The Cook position at Sodexo, located at Seton Medical Center Harker Heights, is a full-time rotation shift role with a competitive pay rate of $15.00 per hour. This role is vital in ensuring that food service operations run smoothly and efficiently, delivering delicious meals that meet high standards of quality, safety, and presentation. Working in a fast-paced kitchen environment, the Cook will be responsible for preparing, portioning, cooking, and presenting a variety of hot and cold food items suitable for all meal periods and special events. This role requires strict adherence to all applicable federal, state, and corporate food safety and sanitation regulations, emphasizing the importance of maintaining a clean and organized workstation. The Cook collaborates closely with the kitchen team to uphold Sodexo’s culinary standards and contribute to a positive dining experience for customers.

In this role, you will engage in tasks such as following recipes meticulously, tasting and adjusting dishes for flavor, estimating production requirements, and maintaining inventory records. Physical stamina is essential due to the nature of kitchen work, which involves extensive walking, standing, lifting up to 35 pounds regularly, and occasionally up to 50 pounds. The ability to perform repetitive motions efficiently and reliably is also necessary. Job Requirements

  • 0 to 2 years of related work experience
  • Knowledge of basic operation of equipment and food-handling procedures preferred
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
  • Good working knowledge of food preparation

Job Duties

  • Prepare food in accordance with current applicable federal, state and corporate standards, guidelines, and regulations to ensure high-quality food service is provided
  • Follow basic recipes and/or product directions for preparing, seasoning, cooking, tasting, carving, and serving soups, meats, vegetables, desserts, and other foodstuffs for consumption in eating establishments
  • Taste products, read menus, estimate food requirements, check production, and keep records to accurately plan production requirements and requisition supplies and equipment
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the workstation
  • Collaborate effectively with kitchen team to ensure smooth operations
  • Attend work and show for scheduled shift on time with satisfactory regularity
  • Perform other duties as assigned based on business necessities and client requirements
