The position of Cook at ARCC offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the campus's food service operations by supporting students, faculty, staff, alumni, and community members through high-quality culinary services. The Cook role is vital to the daily function of the ARCC Riverside Café, an auxiliary service designed to provide affordable and convenient food and beverage options. This full-time, seasonal classified position (job exempt status: non exempt) is based in Coon Rapids and offers a competitive hourly rate ranging from $21.41 to $30.09. The working hours are Monday through Friday from 6:00 am to 2:30 pm, with no telework options.
In this role, the Cook will undertake a wide range of responsibilities that include preparing food using various methods such as cooking, grilling, frying, and baking, as well as serving meals and maintaining a clean and orderly kitchen environment. A key aspect of this role is adherence to food safety, hygiene, and sanitation standards to ensure the well-being of all patrons. Additionally, the position involves assisting with catering orders and contributing to menu planning efforts, offering a well-rounded experience in food service management. The ideal candidate will have knowledge of large-scale cooking methods, nutritional values, and the ability to tailor meals to meet special dietary requirements and medical diets. Experience with point-of-sale systems, customer service skills, and basic maintenance of kitchen equipment are valued as preferred qualifications.

Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Knowledge of large-scale cooking methods, tools and equipment
- Knowledge of food values and nutrition
- Knowledge of health, sanitation and safety principles
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions
- One year of cooking experience preferred
- Ability to work Monday through Friday 6:00 am to 2:30 pm
- Ability to move and transport items up to 50 pounds
- Physical stamina to stand, walk, bend, and twist continuously
