This part-time Cook position at Lovelace Westside Hospital offers an hourly pay range between $16.00 and $18.56, with workdays and shifts during mornings and afternoons or evenings on varying days. As a Cook at Sodexo, you will play a crucial role in preparing and serving a variety of hot and cold food items that meet Sodexo’s high standards for quality, presentation, and consistency. Working in a fast-paced kitchen environment, this role requires accuracy, efficiency, and adherence to strict food safety and sanitation standards. You will be responsible for following recipes, estimating food requirements, and maintaining a clean, organized workstation to support the overall kitchen team and ensure an exceptional dining experience for hospital patients, staff, and visitors.

  • high school diploma, GED or equivalent experience
  • 0 to 2 years of related work experience
  • knowledge of basic operation of equipment and food-handling procedures preferred
  • ability to follow written and verbal instructions
  • good working knowledge of food preparation
  • familiarity with kitchen equipment
  • ability to read and follow a recipe unsupervised

Job Duties

  • prepare food in accordance with current applicable federal, state and corporate standards, guidelines, and regulations to ensure high-quality food service is provided
  • follow basic recipes and/or product directions for preparing, seasoning, cooking, tasting, carving, and serving soups, meats, vegetables, desserts, and other foodstuffs
  • taste products, read menus, estimate food requirements, check production, and keep records to accurately plan production requirements and requisition supplies and equipment
  • walk or be mobile significantly during shifts
  • stand or walk for extended periods, potentially exceeding 8 hours
  • reach, bend, stoop, push and/or pull, and frequently lift up to 35 pounds and occasionally lift or move 50 pounds
  • perform repetitive motions
  • attend work and show for scheduled shift on time with regularity
  • perform other duties as assigned based on business needs and client requirements
