The Cook position at Sodexo, specifically located at Evangel University, represents a full-time employment opportunity with a pay range of $17.00 to $20.00 per hour. This role is essential in ensuring the timely and high-quality preparation of food items that meet Sodexo’s culinary standards. The Cook is responsible for preparing, portioning, cooking, and presenting a variety of hot and cold foods for different meal periods and special events. Working in a dynamic, fast-paced kitchen environment, this role demands adherence to food safety protocols and maintaining a clean and organized workstation.

As a Cook, you will contribute significantly to the customer dining experience by consistently delivering excellent dishes that satisfy both quality and presentation requirements. The position calls for strong teamwork, with flexibility in shifts and availability to meet the dining needs across various service hours. Duties include following recipes, tasting products, estimating food requirements, and maintaining records to support efficient kitchen operations. Physical stamina is important, as the role involves prolonged periods of standing, walking, and handling kitchen equipment. Job Requirements

  • High School diploma, GED or equivalent experience
  • 0 to 2 years of related work experience
  • Knowledge of basic operation of equipment and food-handling procedures preferred
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
  • Good working knowledge of food preparation
  • Requires familiarity of kitchen equipment
  • Must be able to read and follow a recipe unsupervised

Job Duties

  • Prepare food in accordance with current applicable federal, state and corporate standards, guidelines, and regulations to ensure high-quality food service is provided
  • Follow basic recipes and/or product directions for preparing, seasoning, cooking, tasting, carving, and serving soups, meats, vegetables, desserts, and other foodstuffs for consumption in eating establishments
  • Taste products, read menus, estimate food requirements, check production, and keep records to accurately plan production requirements and requisition supplies and equipment
  • Significant walking or other means of mobility
  • Ability to walk or stand for extended periods of time, throughout the entire duration of a shift, which may exceed 8 hours
  • Ability to reach, bend, stoop, push and/or pull, and frequently lift up to 35 pounds and occasionally lift/move 50 pounds
  • Ability to perform repetitive motions
  • Attends work and shows for scheduled shift on time with satisfactory regularity
  • Other duties may be assigned and can differ among accounts, depending on business necessities and client requirements
