Job Description
This Cook position is offered by an established culinary services team dedicated to serving residents with quality meals and an exceptional dining experience. The culinary services department plays a crucial role in the overall success of the community, ensuring residents enjoy delicious, nutritious, and safely prepared food every day. As a Cook reporting to the Director of Culinary Services, this role primarily involves preparing cold food, bakery, and salad items. Depending on operational needs, the Cook may also prepare hot meals including burgers, fries, eggs, and other hot meal options. The job requires meticulous attention to serving therapeutic diets, adhering to portion control, and ensuring that all meals meet the established taste, temperature, and appearance standards. Beyond daily meal preparation, the Cook contributes to preparing food for special events, assisting with inventory and replenishment of food and supplies, and maintaining a clean and safe kitchen environment.

Job Requirements
- Minimum of one or more years of food preparation experience in a directly related field
- Culinary background experienced preferred
- Proficient in English, verbal and written
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
- Active Serve Safe Certification or Food Handlers Certificate preferred
- Capable of performing the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodations
- Ability to understand and communicate written and verbal directions
- Outstanding customer service skills
- Well organized with excellent attention to detail
- Aptitude to work independently with excellent time management skills
- Regular attendance, reliability and punctuality is necessary
- Ability to work nights and weekends, upon request
- Must be able to work overtime as needed
- May be responsible to work on an on-call basis
Job Qualifications

Job Duties
- Prepare meals that follow the menus and recipes
- Inspect special diet trays to assure that the correct diet is served to the resident
- Serve food in accordance with established portion control procedures
- Prepare food for therapeutic diets in accordance with planned menus
- Prepare food in accordance with standardized recipes and special diet orders
- Prepare cold item foods, bakery, and salad items
- Cook hot foods as directed by supervisors
- Ensure culinary practices, procedures, and food safety are followed
- Adhere to food service timelines
- Prepare and serve substitute foods to residents who refuse daily menu food options
- Serve meals to residents and guests as needed
- Assist in food preparation for special meals, parties, and events
- Prepare food in accordance with sanitary regulations and Food Safe regulations
- Ensure work areas are maintained in a clean and safe manner
- Assist with food prep for the upcoming meal and day
- Assist with the inventory and replenishment process for food and supplies
- Meet federal and state in-service requirements
