Job Requirements

  • Grade 12 education or equivalent
  • Minimum one year full-time health care food service or institutional cooking experience
  • Current Food Handler Training certificate Level 1 or equivalent
  • Valid Class 5 driver’s license
  • Insured vehicle with liability insurance of at least $1,000,000
  • Ability to lift items ranging from 2.2 to 50 pounds
  • Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends
  • Good work and attendance record

Job Qualifications

  • Grade 12 education or equivalent
  • Minimum one year full-time health care food service or institutional cooking experience
  • Current Food Handler Training certificate Level 1 or equivalent
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and email
  • Knowledge of therapeutic and modified food textures
  • Knowledge of sanitary food handling principles
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Effective communication skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Valid Class 5 driver’s license with insured vehicle

Job Duties

  • Direct and perform the daily preparation, cooking and service of nutritious meals to clients
  • Follow established standards, departmental and regional policies, and governmental regulations and legislation
  • Exercise initiative and independent judgment in determining work priorities and methods
  • Maintain sanitary food handling principles and procedures
  • Organize kitchen operations and food preparation for health care patients and residents
  • Work efficiently and maintain an organized work environment
  • Communicate effectively with staff, health care professionals, and clients
