Job Description
Time To Surrender is a reputable organization dedicated to providing residential substance abuse treatment services across multiple locations including Elizabethtown, Lexington, and Louisville. The company is committed to supporting individuals on their recovery journey by offering comprehensive programs that focus on health, safety, and rehabilitation. As a well-established entity in the healthcare and treatment sector, Time To Surrender prioritizes quality care, regulatory compliance, and maintaining a safe environment for its clients and staff. The organization emphasizes the importance of upholding public health standards and works closely with personnel, medical staff, and stakeholders to ensure a supportive and effective treatment environment.
The full-time Cook position at Time To Surrender plays a vital role in supporting the daily operations of the kitchen within active residential substance abuse treatment facilities. Reporting to the Assistant Executive Director or Senior Program Director, the Cook is responsible for preparing meals that meet or exceed the Department for Public Health standards. This role requires a strong commitment to food safety, quality control, and maintaining a clean and organized kitchen environment. The Cook must demonstrate excellent communication and organizational skills, a positive attitude, and a clear understanding of key business and quality standards related to food preparation, service, and hygiene.
The Cook's responsibilities include managing food quality and storage, ensuring proper temperature monitoring, and keeping accurate records in compliance with health regulations. In addition, the Cook collaborates with medical staff to accommodate special diet needs, maintains confidentiality per HIPAA regulations, and adheres to all local health department certifications and permits. The position demands physical movement such as standing, bending, lifting, and manual dexterity for meal preparation. It also involves working in settings where potential exposure to communicable diseases may occur due to interaction with individuals from varied environments such as jails, hospitals, and rehabilitation centers.
Applicants must meet several pre-employment requirements, including drug testing, background checks for criminal convictions over one year old, and a TB skin test within the past year. Candidates must have a minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent experience in a related field and either possess or be willing to obtain the ServeSafe Basic Concepts in Food Safety Certification along with Person in Charge certification. A valid driver’s license or reliable transportation is also mandatory.
This position is not only about food preparation but also about contributing positively to the health and welfare of all involved by ensuring compliance with both state and federal licensing standards. The Cook will actively participate in quality assurance processes, manage inventory effectively, and maintain kitchen documentation to support operational excellence. The role requires dedication to core organizational values, adherence to the chain of command, and the ability to maintain a confidential and safe environment conducive to recovery. Additional responsibilities include performing CPR/First Aid as required and undertaking other duties as assigned to sustain the overall mission of the organization.
