The Nutrition Services department at Parkview Health is dedicated to employing top talent and fostering career growth among its team members. We are currently seeking a Nutrition Services Cook to join our dynamic team. Under the guidance of the Nutrition Services Manager and Supervisor, this position plays an integral role in preparing and presenting nutritious, high-quality foods across multiple service areas including retail, bakery, catering, patient services, and coffee kiosks. The ideal candidate will be responsible for following approved recipes meticulously, ensuring consistency and excellence in food appearance and quality. This role also demands strict adherence to all Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) guidelines, guaranteeing safety and compliance in all food handling and preparation processes.

The Nutrition Services Cook position may require flexibility to work across various Parkview Health entities, reflecting the collaborative and integrated nature of the health system's nutrition services. This full-time, benefit-eligible role operates primarily during the night shift, with working hours from 9 PM to 5:30 AM. The position calls for an individual who is physically capable, able to stand, walk, stoop, and bend frequently, and able to lift weights up to 40 pounds.

Job Requirements

  • Must be able to lift 40 pounds
  • Must be 16 years of age or older
  • Ability to perform physical demands including frequent standing, walking, stooping and bending
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to multi-task and work independently
  • Willingness to work night shift from 9 PM to 5:30 AM
  • Availability to work at various Parkview Health entities as needed

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • Minimum of 1 year experience in hospitality, customer service, or general labor
  • Previous experience in nutritional services, particularly in a medical or hospital setting preferred
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to multi-task and work independently using critical thinking skills
  • Must be 16 years of age or older

Job Duties

  • Prepare nutritious and well-presented food for retail, bakery, catering, patient services, and coffee kiosks following approved recipe guidelines
  • Ensure excellence in appearance and quality of all foods served in Nutrition support areas
  • Comply with all HACCP guidelines for food safety
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization in food preparation and service areas
  • Work collaboratively under the direction of Nutrition Services Manager and Supervisor
  • Perform physical tasks including lifting up to 40 pounds, standing, walking, stooping and bending
  • Adapt to working at various Parkview Health entities as required
