Job Description

Ascent Hospitality is a dynamic and progressive hospitality company with an extensive portfolio of hotels and a promising pipeline of new properties and acquisitions. Despite its impressive growth and expansion, the core of Ascent Hospitality remains focused on people rather than numbers. The company prides itself on fostering a culture that delivers a memorable experience for all team members and guests alike, emphasizing unity, collaboration, and purposeful work. This culture is a testament to Ascent Hospitality's commitment to putting the needs and well-being of its people at the heart of its operations, from leadership to frontline employees.

Ascent Hospitality is seeking individuals who thrive in a team-oriented environment and who are passionate about serving others. The company looks for leaders and team members who communicate effectively, anticipate and understand the needs of others, and are trendsetters capable of navigating challenges and embracing change. These qualities are essential for those looking to build a successful career within the firm, as Ascent Hospitality continuously strives to innovate and maintain high standards in the hospitality sector.

Currently, Ascent Hospitality is looking to hire a Cook, a critical role within its hotel and restaurant operations. This position offers a competitive salary and comprehensive benefits, including health, dental, vision, and life insurance, a 401(k) plan with employer match, paid time off, uniforms for most roles, and a team member hotel discount program. The Cook will be responsible for preparing appetizing foods for guests while strictly adhering to the standards set by the hotel, restaurant, and banquet facilities. This role demands attention to detail, culinary skill, and a commitment to quality and customer satisfaction.

The Cook will provide fast, friendly, and professional customer service to hotel and restaurant guests and staff. The role requires preparing food in accordance with productivity standards, health and safety regulations, cost control measures, and forecasting needs. Ensuring recipes are correctly followed, maintaining portion control, and minimizing waste are key elements of this job. Additionally, the Cook will oversee and enforce food specifications, portion control, recipe accuracy, and sanitation standards to ensure every dish served meets the company’s quality expectations.

Meeting brand standards regarding food and beverage service is essential, as is enforcing safety procedures and cleanliness standards throughout the kitchen. The Cook will maintain the cleanliness and maintenance of kitchen equipment, assist in setting up catering functions, and interact with guests to obtain feedback on product quality and service levels. Comprehensive knowledge of all menu items will enable the Cook to maintain high standards and contribute to a consistently excellent dining experience.

This role requires effective communication with management and other team members, assisting with restocking, kitchen line setup, and performing other duties as assigned. The position demands flexibility in scheduling, as shifts may include days, nights, weekends, and holidays. Physical demands include standing for extended periods, working in hot and cold environments, and lifting items weighing over 25 pounds. Successful candidates will need to demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills, have a food handler’s certificate, and a ServSafe certification obtained within 30 days of hire.

Joining Ascent Hospitality as a Cook means becoming part of a passionate team dedicated to excellence in hospitality. It’s an opportunity to develop culinary skills while contributing to an environment that values teamwork, innovation, and delivering outstanding guest experiences.
