The Cook position at Evangel University, employed full-time by Sodexo, involves preparing and presenting a variety of hot and cold food items following Sodexo's culinary standards. This role is essential in delivering a high-quality dining experience, ensuring safe food handling, and maintaining an organized and clean kitchen environment. The pay range for this position is between $17.00 and $20.00 per hour. The Cook works varying shifts with open availability preferred, which may include long hours standing, walking, and performing physically demanding tasks.

As a Cook at Sodexo, you will be responsible for preparing food according to federal, state, and corporate standards. This includes following recipes and product directions for various dishes while maintaining an efficient workflow in a fast-paced kitchen. You will need to estimate food quantities, keep accurate production records, and ensure all food products are prepared safely and attractively for service. The position requires attention to detail, teamwork, and adherence to food safety regulations. Physical stamina is vital as the role involves lifting, bending, and continuous movement throughout the shift.

  • 0 to 2 years of related work experience
  • knowledge of basic operation of equipment and food-handling procedures preferred
  • ability to follow written and verbal instructions
  • good working knowledge of food preparation
  • requires familiarity of kitchen equipment
  • must be able to read and follow a recipe unsupervised

Job Duties

  • Prepare food in accordance with current applicable federal, state and corporate standards
  • follow basic recipes and product directions for preparing, seasoning, cooking, tasting, carving, and serving soups, meats, vegetables, desserts, and other foodstuffs
  • taste products, read menus, estimate food requirements, check production, and keep records
  • maintain a clean and organized workstation
  • attend work and show up for scheduled shifts on time
  • perform repetitive motions
  • lift up to 35 pounds frequently and occasionally lift 50 pounds
  • other duties as assigned based on business necessities and client requirements
