Job Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation
  • A personnel security investigation is required
  • Immunization screening is required
  • Hepatitis B immunization is required for all positions with direct patient contact
  • Selectees will be required to sign a statement (Condition of Employment) consenting to seasonal influenza vaccinations or must provide a recognized exemption
  • This position may include shift work (evenings, weekends, holidays)
  • This position may require the incumbent to work weekends and/or holidays
  • Moderate to heavy lifting up to 40 pounds may be required

Job Qualifications

  • Ability to do the work of the position without more than normal supervision
  • Ability to interpret instructions, specifications, etc. (other than blueprint reading)
  • Ability to use and maintain tools and equipment
  • Dexterity and safety
  • Knowledge of materials
  • Technical practices (theoretical, precise, artistic)
  • Work practices (including keeping things neat, clean, and in order)

Job Duties

  • Prepare and cook a variety of menu items, including regular and therapeutic diet entrees
  • Perform roasting, broiling, baking, frying, grilling, boiling, steaming, and stewing meats
  • Independently prepare soups, stocks, broths, gravies and sauces without the use of package mixes
  • Clean and maintain equipment and work areas in sanitary conditions by sweeping and mopping floors
  • washing and sanitizing refrigerators, freezers, work surfaces, tables and utensils
  • and cleaning kettles, ranges, ovens, and other equipment
  • Operate various mixers, steamers, steam kettles, ovens and other electrical and/or mechanical equipment
  • Cook foods to proper temperatures and maintain proper food temperatures during holding, transport, re-heating, and serving to assure quality control and food safety
