The role available at Golden Palms Rehabilitation and Retirement is for a full-time Cook working the 5 am to 1 pm shift. Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- prior cooking or food preparation experience preferred
- knowledge of dietary needs related to therapeutic and special diets
- ability to follow standardized recipes and portion control
- experience in a healthcare or skilled nursing facility preferred but not required

- understanding of food safety and sanitation standards

Job Duties
- Prepare meals in accordance with planned menus
- prepare and serve meals that are palatable and appetizing in appearance
- serve food in accordance with established portion control procedures
- prepare food for therapeutic diets in accordance with planned menus
- prepare food in accordance with standardized recipes and special diet orders
- prepare and serve bedtime snacks
- provide appropriate equipment and utensils with the resident's meal tray
- review care plans to ensure dietary information matches foods served
- prepare and serve substitute foods for residents who refuse served foods
- inspect special diet trays to ensure correct diet is served
- complete administrative tasks such as forms and reports
- coordinate dietary service with other departments
- work with facility dietitian to implement dietary changes
- ensure dietary procedures comply with policies
- assist in standardizing work methods
- assume accountability of Cook position
- maintain and file menus per policy
- assist in establishing food service production line
- process diet changes from Nursing Services
- develop and maintain rapport with inter-department personnel
- ensure safety and sanitation regulations are followed
- manage cleaning duties and food storage maintenance
- dispose of food waste according to policy
- assist in inventory management
- recommend equipment and supply needs
- maintain confidentiality of resident care information
- assist in preparation for special meals and events
- cook meals specifically for residents at the facility
